Privacy notice
This notice covers this website and the Ducky waitlist. Ducky is an independently run personal project, and the individual who runs it is the person responsible for your information. For privacy questions, or to ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your information, email ducky@opengrove.io.
What we collect
You can read this website without giving us anything. If you join the waitlist, we keep:
- your email address;
- which plan you want (Digital only, or the Physical bundle with the robot and the digital pet), and the price list shown to you at the time;
- your confirmation, given by submitting the form, that you are 18 or older and have read this notice, with the time and the notice version;
- only if you choose to answer: how likely you would be to buy your plan at its early-bird price, what phone you use, and any note you write;
- the campaign tags of the link that brought you here, if it had any (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term), and which page you signed up on;
- whether you used a phone or a computer, stored only as "mobile" or "desktop" from your browser's user agent;
- a scrambled code made from your IP address with a secret key (a keyed one-way hash), used only to spot spam and abuse; we do not keep your raw IP address in the waitlist;
- when you signed up, and how many times the same address was submitted.
To deliver and protect the site, Cloudflare (which carries traffic to this site) and our web server handle your IP address and basic request details, and may keep short-lived connection logs for security and troubleshooting. These logs are not part of the waitlist.
Submitting the same email again updates your entry instead of creating a second one. We do not verify that you own the address and we do not send an automatic confirmation email. Please don't put sensitive information in the optional note.
What we don't do
- We don't take payments or card details on this site, and joining is not an order.
- We don't use advertising pixels, analytics trackers, third-party scripts or third-party fonts.
- The public pages set no cookies. The private admin page sets one sign-in cookie, for the site owner only.
- We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't use it for unrelated marketing.
Why we use it
We use your information to keep the waitlist and to email you about Ducky (for example, when you can try it, or when there is news about the plan you chose); to understand how much interest there is in each plan and at what price; to learn which links and ads bring people here; and to protect the site from spam and abuse. We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who can see it
Only the person who runs Ducky, through a password-protected page. The waitlist is stored on a rented cloud server in the United States (Oregon), and the companies that host that server process it on our behalf. Cloudflare delivers the site's traffic. When someone joins, the person who runs Ducky gets a private notification with the sign-up details through Feishu (Lark). If we later use an email service to send updates, it will process your email address to deliver them. We may disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your entry until you ask us to delete it or until the waitlist is no longer needed, whichever comes first. There is no automatic deletion schedule yet; we will review what we hold and delete what is no longer needed. Server backups of the waitlist are kept for up to 14 days.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or withdraw your consent, by emailing ducky@opengrove.io. Before acting on a request, we will check that it comes from the address in question. Every email we send you will include a way to unsubscribe.
Children
The waitlist is for people 18 and older. If you think a child has signed up, contact us and we will delete the entry.
Changes
If we change how we handle waitlist information in a significant way, we will update this notice and its date, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
